DAY 1: Depart USA - Arrive San Jose, Costa Rica

Arrive in San Jose, meet your Professional Naturalist Tour Director and transfer to your hotel. 

Overnight in San Jose.

Day 2: San Jose - Poas Volcano National Park

Today enjoy the scenery of the Central Valley, surrounded by soaring mountains, strawberry plantations and flower farms. Visit a Coffee Plantation to sample fresh Costa Rican coffee and learn about the history and cultivation of the coffee bean. Later travel past tropical landscapes for a visit of Poas Volcano National Park to view the dramatic mile wide crater from an overlook. Also stop at the Sarchi Artisan Village, known as the cradle of craftsmanship and an ideal place to shop for an oxcart, Costa Rica’s best known craft and souvenir. Overnight in the Arenal Volcano National Park area (La Fortuna) for the next two evenings. Tonight join your traveling companions for a Welcome Dinner.

Day 3: La Fortuna - Day of Leisure

Today enjoy the amenites of your resort and spa hotel. The resort features a wonderful viewing angle of the Arenal Volcano and is surrounded by lush gardens, walking paths, excellent bird watching, swimming pools and hot springs. Enjoy dinner at the resort.

Overnight in La Fortuna. Meals: B, D

Day 4: Arenal Volcano National Park - Monteverde

This morning visit the Arenal Volcano National Park, one of the 10 most active volcanoes in the world. Its constant emissions of gases and lava will amaze you. Later check into your hotel in the Monteverde Cloud Forest area for a two night stay and enjoy dinner.

Day 5: Monteverde

Today experience the conservation project at Selvatura Park. Enjoy a unique opportunity to walk across Hanging Bridges and discover first hand the natural beauty of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, one of the largest and most enchanting wildlife sanctuaries in the Americas. Enjoy interesting visits to the Butterfly Garden, home to 50 different species, and the Hummingbird Gallery, home to many species from the cloud forest.

Day 6: Monteverde - Jaco Beach/ Puntarenas

This morning travel west via motorcoach to the Jaco Beach/ Puntarenas Beach area, located on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica for a two night resort stay. Jaco Beach/Puntarenas area is one of the most visited coastal destinations in Costa Rica and is well known for wildlife viewing, sport fishing and surfng. Enjoy a visit to the Carara National Park, a tropical bird and wildlife sanctuary and one of the world’s few nesting places for the scarlet macaw.

Overnight in Jaco Beach/ Puntarenas. Meals: B, D

Day 7: Morning at Leisure - Crocodile Cruise

Enjoy the morning at leisure to relax and enjoy the amenities of the resort complex. Maybe take an optional excursion via Tranopy or Zip Line. Later set out for an exciting Jungle Crocodile Safari Cruise. The 2-hour cruise highlights crocodiles and spectacular bird-viewing while cruising the Tarcoles River.

Overnight in Jaco Beach/ Puntarenas. Meals: B, D

Day 8: Jaco Beach/ Puntarenas - San Jose

This morning enjoy a bit of leisure me before departing for San Jose. Enroute visit an Orchid Garden and gain insight into the stunning diversity of orchids. Tonight enjoy a special Farewell Dinner.

Overnight in San Jose. Meals: B, L, D

Day 9: San Jose - Return to USA

Fly home filled with wonderful memories of Costa Rica!

  • Triple Rates -  A triple room rate is available. Please contact us if you are interested. Please keep in mind, a triple room rate reduction is based on a standard double room with 2 beds. Triple rates do NOT include a third rollaway bed. Room configurations vary greatly Internationally.
  • Premier's Travel Protection Plan (TPP) is strongly recommended. TPP is available at $350 per person.  See more information on TPP below.
  • Travel Documents: Final documents for all passengers paid in full will be mailed approximately 10 days prior to departure.
  • Luggage: To expedite movement, each tour participant is allowed one large suitcase and one carry-on bag.
  • Passport & DOB Information – A valid passport is required for tours that leave the United States even to Canada, Mexico or the Carribean and is the responsibility of each passenger. Passports should be valid for up to six (6) months beyond the travel dates. All names must be submitted to Premier exactly as they appear on passenger passports. Dates of Birth (DOB’s) are required with reservation for air travel. Copies of passports are required for some programs. Additional forms maybe necessary based on the destination. Travel Visas, when applicable, are the responsibility of the individual passenger. 
  • Air Deviations & Gateway Changes - Any Air Deviation, Gateway Change or Own Air Arrangement must be submitted to PWD Reservations Dept in writing (email/letter/Res Form) 6 months prior to departure. Any Air Deviation involving dates of travel other than regular scheduled group travel dates will incur a $150 per person air supplement for International Trips/$75 per person air supplements for US/Canada. Any passenger requesting a different gateway (Gateway Change) from the group will not incur an air supplement but will be subject to air rate increases or reductions based on the Gateway. Passengers requesting Own Air will get the RT Air package reduction. One-way air, Triangular air or air involving stopovers is not permitted with PWD group air contracts (offer Own air reduction). Business Class or First Class Upgrades are not permitted with PWD group air contracts.
  • Booking Changes: Any changes/revisions made to a confirmed/ticketed reservation may be assessed a change/administration fee as a result of travel supplier and airline change fees. Tours are non-transferable.
  • Deposit & Final Payment: Deposit of $500 per person is due to secure reservations. Final Payment Due Date is 75 days prior to departure.
  • **Booking Discount: Initial Deposit can be made by check or credit card to be eligible. Payments after Initial Deposit are considered part of Final Payment & must be made by check.
  • Local airport departure taxes of approximately $32 must be paid at the airport in local currency upon departure from Costa Rica (subject to change)

PREMIER’S TRAVEL PROTECTION PLAN (TPP) - $350 per person
The Pre-Departure Cancellaton Fee Waiver (Part A – I & II) is provided by Premier World Discovery (PWD) and is not an insurance benefit. The Post Departure Travel Insurance Plan (Part B) is provided by USI Afnity Travel Insurance Services (USI).

Part A – Cancellaton Waiver provided by PWD
I. Trip Cancellaton Waiver (TCW) 
- Guarantees full refund on all payments, except the TPP Fee itself in case of cancellaton up to the tme and date of departure due to the passenger’s personal illness or death of a  member of the immediate family; or, if the passenger must return early due to the passenger’s personal illness or death of a member of the immediate family, a refund for the unused land services.  Medical/official documentation required. 

II. Premier “Any Reason” Cancellaton Waiver (ARCW) - Reimburses 75% of the cancellaton fees in the  form of a future travel credit certfcate (FTCC) valid for 1 year, if you cancel more than 48 hours prior to scheduled departure for any reason not eligible for cash refund under the TCW (Part A – I.). FTCC is non-transferable, may not be redeemed for cash and does not include any credit for the TPP Fee. The TPP Fee (if chosen) is refundable untl 180 days prior to departure & cannot be added afer Final Payment. The TPP does not cover any single supplement charges due to an individual’s traveling companion cancelling prior to departure. The TPP is non-transferable and valid for each applicant only. The TPP does not cover any services such as airline tckets not purchased through PWD. Cancellatons, Claims & Inquirie under Part A will be administered by PWD. Certain Exclusions and Restrictons apply

Part B – Post Departure Travel Insurance Plan provided by USI
Includes coverage for: Trip Interrupton ($1,000); Trip Delay ($100/Day-Max $500); Baggage & Personal Effects ($2,000); Baggage Delay ($500); Emergency Accident/Sickness Medical Expense ($30,000); Emergency Evacuaton/Repatriaton ($150,000); Accidental Death & Dismemberment ($25,000); Emergency Travel Assistance (24/7). Claims & Inquiries under Part B will be administered by USI.

Refunds for customer cancellations will be made in full if canceled at least 180 days before departure. On cancellations less than 180 days, Premier Tours Global reserves the right to assess a fee for those non-refundable items of the trip and retain your booking deposit. Cancellatons not covered by the Travel Protecton Plan (TPP) or if the TPP is not purchased, are subject to the following per person fees:

  • Cancel more than 180 days prior to departure: Full Refund
  • Cancel 179-75 days prior to departure: Deposit or TPP* is Retained
  • Cancel 74-45 days prior to departure: 25% of total price
  • Cancel 44-15 days prior to departure: 50% of total price
  • Cancel 14 days or less prior to departure/no shows: No refunds
