Budapest - Budapest, Hungary

Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Budapest, Hungary, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

Transfer to Mayflower Tours’ exclusively chartered river ship, your home for the next seven nights. In the evening enjoy a welcome dinner onboard.

After breakfast enjoy an included city tour of Budapest. The city straddles both banks of the Danube linked by seven bridges, including the famous Chain and Elizabeth Bridges. The tour presents you with a fantastic opportunity to become acquainted with Hungary’s beautiful capital. Enjoy a photo stop at Gellert Hill, see historic Buda Castle, 500-year-old Matthias Church, St. Stephen’s Basilica, the distinctive Fisherman’s Bastion and the marvelous Royal Palace. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore and shop for porcelain and local specialties. Meals: B, L, D

The day begins with an included panoramic city tour of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia and the former capital of Hungary. ‘All Aboard’ the exclusively chartered Bratislava City Train for a unique touring experience. As the train winds its way up to Bratislava Castle, the guide will point out the beautiful buildings and historic sites. See the Slovak Philharmonic Hall, the National Theatre, the Archbishop’s Summer Residence and the Blumental Church. You’ll arrive at the Vienna Gate and continue on for a photo stop from Castle Hill. In the Old City, a leisurely paced walking tour passes the Archbishop Palace, St. Martin’s Cathedral and the Main Square with its Old Town Hall, the Roland Fountain and Opera House. Enjoy leisure time this afternoon in the remarkable town. This evening, enjoy a musical performance onboard by local artists. Meals: B, L, D

Discover all Vienna has to offer with an included orientation tour. For over 600 years, the magnificent baroque capital city of Vienna was the seat of the mighty Hapsburg Emperors, a her- itage that has bestowed it with many dazzling palaces and mon- uments: the lavish Hofburg Palace, the impressive Vienna Opera House and the majestic Ringstrasse. The capital is also known as the “City of Music” for having once been the home of composers such as Beethoven, Schubert, Mozart and Johann Strauss. On your included excursion, see some of the famous sights of this impressive city and visit Shönbrunn Palace, with its magnificent interiors and landscape gardens. Enjoy leisure time in the city center in the afternoon. This evening, join an optional excursion for a musical concert in one of the famous music venues of the city. Meals: B, L, D

After breakfast, join your local guide for a stroll through the pretty, medieval town of Dürnstein—"The Pearl of the Wachau"—set in Austria’s spectacular vine-terraced Wachau Valley. With its cobblestone streets and old burgher houses, it is dominated by the magnificent baroque Stiftskirche with its lovely blue façade. The ruins of Kuenringerburg Castle, which served as a prison to England’s Richard the Lionheart in 1193, can be seen on the hilltop. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Wachau Valley as we cruise along the Danube River before arriving in Melk. Join an optional excursion to visit the glorious and magnificent 900-year-old Benedictine Abbey, UNESCO World Heritage Site, which boasts a breathtakingly opulent Baroque interior. See the Marble Hall and Library with its thousands of identically bound books and also its terraced gardens. Meals: B, L, D

On the optional excursion to Salzburg, see sights from The Sound of Music and walk along the famous Getreidegasse Lane past Mozart’s birthplace. After some free time, the coach returns to the ship in Passau. Those not joining the optional excursion will have free time in Passau. This evening your ship departs for Regensburg. Meals: B, L, D

After breakfast, we explore Regensburg on a guided walking tour. As we stroll through the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we will experience its beauty and history first-hand. This afternoon the ship departs for Nuremberg. Tonight, say goodbye to the cap- tain and crew at the farewell reception and dinner. Meals: B, L, D

After breakfast, disembark the ship and enjoy a panoramic tour of Nuremberg. Your local guide will explain the importance of this city during the war as you pass the courthouse where the Nazi War Trials were held. Upon arrival in the city center, begin a walking tour through the Altstadt (old town). The guide will lead you through this medieval city as you pass some of the amazing architecture, fortifications and stone towers from past centuries, including the Schöner Brunnen – Nuremberg’s star attraction: the gilded ‘Beautiful Fountain’ with its tiers of intricately carved figures. At the end of the tour, free time is provided for lunch on your own prior to the journey to Prague for a two-night stay. Meals: B

After breakfast, an included walking tour highlights the famous sites of this beautiful city. See Old Town Square with its astronom- ical clock and the medieval Charles Bridge. During free time this afternoon, continue dis- covering the city on your own or join the op- tional excursion to Terezin Concentration Camp. Meals: B

Optional Travelers Protection Plan (TPP) - $429 Cruise & Air - This nonrefundable fee waives all cancellation fees when we are notified of cancellation one day before the tour departs. If you must leave the tour early due to personal illness, illness or death of a member of your immediate family, TPP guarantees full refund for any unused services after the departure of the tour. Other benefits include medical expenses for illness and injury, emergency transportation, 24 hour hot line, and lost or stolen baggage assistance. Return air transportation is included ONLY if your air tickets were provided by Mayflower Tours. If you purchase the optional Travelers Protection Plan (TPP), you will be refunded all payments, including deposit amount, less the TPP premium amount. Passport & Visas – Each U.S. citizen must have a valid passport. Expiry date of passports should be at least 6 months after the return date of tour. If you don’t have a passport, call our office and we’ll tell you how to apply for one. Some countries require visas for entry by U.S. citizens. We will send visa applications and instructions if a visa is required for your tour. Holders of non-U.S. passports should contact their nearest consulate and inquire about the necessary passport or visa documentation required for entry into the countries visited. NOTE: Due to airline security measures, your passport name must match your airline ticket name and your tour reservation name or you may be denied aircraft boarding.

Deposit and payment of the optional Travelers Protection Plan must be paid within five business days after making the reservation.
